Our kickboxing classes are based on the traditional stand-up combat art using a combination of kicking and punching. The classes are practiced for general fitness and/or intensive fitness training, self-defense as well as a contact sport. It’s a high intensity workout using large muscle groups with powerful and explosive movements. Whether you’re a fitness “beginner” or a “long time gym aficionado”, undertaking a kickboxing workout at least once a week can help you feel re-energized and out of a rut.
Kickboxing is historically developed from Karate, Muay Thai. Khmer Boxing as well as Western Boxing.
Benefits for your body and mind:
Reduce Stress: Kicking and punching your way to a stress-free zone within minutes of your high-energy kickboxing routine. The movements in kickboxing challenge several core muscle groups and will give you a total body workout, fast.
Helps Confidence: Stated by Dr. Rose Windale of Healthzine.org, kickboxing helps you release endorphins which will give your mood a boost and help you feel more confident. Endorphins also help you feel happier and more positive for several hours after the workout is completed.
Getting into shape: You’ll be toning up your body as you rev up your metabolism with the high power cardio routine. Great for weight loss and getting you into shape, fast. This occurs when you rev up your body, burning over 800 calories per hour with the high power cardio reported by Muscle and Fitness Magazine.
Thrust Energy levels: Due to the high-energy cardio routine, your body and mind receive a boost, as well as increase your energy levels. As you’re breathing hard and sweating out toxins, this process gives your energy levels a much welcomed boost.
Better Coordination: Kickboxing helps you with posture problems and poor coordination. You can strengthen your ‘core’ and improve your reflexes and coordination skills. Quick punches and kicks in kickboxing will help you develop faster reflexes and reaction times. This is really important especially during aging, as coordination and balance becomes compromised, increasing the risk of falls.
Better Posture: If you are hunching over a computer for long periods of time, kickboxing workouts will challenge many muscle groups that don’t receive enough attention throughout the day, and you will start to build up your core. Your “Core” muscles in around your abdominal wall are targeted with kickboxing because you need to use your waist and abs for balance. You also use your core to execute each carefully coordinated move.
